Our office hours are 8:30 AM until 5:30 PM Mondays and 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM Tuesday through Friday. Our office is located in the Preston County Courthouse Annex at 106 W. Main St., Kingwood, WV. The duty of the County Assessor under the West Virginia Constitution is to determine the value of real and personal property for the purpose of taxation. The role of the Assessor in the property taxation process is frequently misunderstood. People often say that the Assessor increased their taxes, but in reality, the Assessor’s only role is to fairly determine the "true and actual" value of real and personal property. We believe the information contained in the web site is as accurate as possible, but as with any type of electronic information the possibility for error exists.
